Padum to Darcha

The trek from Padum starts from the beautiful valley of Zanskar goes on to Shingo-la and onwards to Darcha in Himachal Pradesh. This trek will take you Purne, Kurgiak, Lakong, Chumikanakpo, Ramjak, Tokpa, Chalang and Padum.
The town of Manali will give you a chance to get to know the culture of Himachal Pradesh, here you will be able to check out the ancient temples and get to know the locale culture of Himachal Pradesh.

Itinerary

Day-1

You will arrive at Delhi Airport and will take a flight out to Leh (3500 meters). Your acclimatization will start from day one. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-2

Today you will continue your acclimatization as you will take the day to visit the locale sights like the Hemis, Shey and the Thiksey monasteries. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-3

You will leave for Saspol today it is a 3 hour drive from Leh in which you will cover 67 kms. You will visit the monastery of the red hats Alchi monastery which was established in the 11th century. Stay will be in tents.

Day-4

We will be driving to Kargil covering 168 kms in 8 hours over Namika-la (3750 meters) and Fatu-la (4100 meters) and visiting the Lamayury monastery on the way this monastery was built by Rinchen Zankpo in the 11th century. Stay will be in tents.

Day-5

Today is reserved for off roading as we will hit some rough roads in this exciting and adventure filled jeep ride we will be covering 117 kilometers in 7 hours and will pass through Panikhar and reach our destination Rangdom. Stay will be in tents.

Day-6

We will be reaching Padum (3650 meters) after crossing the Pansi-la (4400 meters) this 125 kilometer drive will be covered in 7 hours and will give you heart stopping views of the place. Stay will be in tents.

Day-7

You will start the trek today from this beautiful place Padum to Raru in an easy trek to stretch your muscles and warm up your body, we will follow the Tsarap Chu to the village Mune where we will be pitching our tents. Stay will be in tents.

Day-8

The trek today will be to Phebula over 4 hours, we will be go down to Lingti Chu and climb up the pass after passing the river the trek will then take us to the Main River valley and we will trek alongside the river till we reach our camp site. Stay will be in tents.

Day-9

You will be trekking for 5 hours through a deep gorge and will cross the river the trek is through some of the best scenic spots in the entire trek. The trek will be to Purne. Stay will be in tents.

Day-10

You will not change the base camp today as you will take a 4 hour trek to Phuktal monastery, set in a lime stone cave this monastery is carved out the mountain side and is the most impressive monastery in Zanskar. Founded in the 15th century this monastery is with the yellow sect of monks. Stay will be in tents.

Day-11

The trek today will to Kargiah which will be covered in 7 hours of brisk walking, you will cross the Kargiah Chu and reach Yal after a steep climb we will cross the Testa, Tanze and Kuru villages where you can see the day to day activities of the locales. Stay will be in tents.

Day-12

The trek today will be to Phuktal and back over a 4 hour trek; the trail will take you ice water streams with wild poppies all around you and you will cross beautiful pastures where the locals rear there yaks. This trek is one of the best parts of the entire expedition. Stay will be in tents.

Day-13

We will trek to Shingo-la (5100 meters and onwards to Ramjak with a brisk trek of 8 hours. We will trek through the main ridge just below the pass (La) and you will cross the glacier with spectacular views of snow covered peaks and hanging glaciers. We will traverse the Moraine and reach a narrow path which will take you to the camp site. Stay will be in tents.

Day-14

The trek will be to Zankar-Saamdu which will be covered in 4 hours. You will be going down hill to the Barari River and trek to the Confluence of the Zankar-Saamdu Rivers the crossing will be by a rope bridge. Stay will be in tents.

Day-15

You will trek to Palamo over a period of 4 hours. The trek will take you big rocks and the descent will be through grazing pastures and fields of locale farmers with the back ground of birch trees. Stay will be in tents.

Day-16

The 3 hour trek will take you to Darcha. The trek is a leisure trek as you enter the Darcha Valley you will cross over an old but very sturdy stone bridge. Stay will be in tents.

Day-17

You will depart to Manali by road the distance is 148 kilometers and the driving time is 8 hours, you will pass through the Lahul valley with a stop over at Keyloung. The drive will also take you to Rhotang Pass and then you will descent to Manali. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-18

Today you will explore the twin towns of Kullu and Manali. The must buys are the famous Kullu caps and shawls. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-19

The drive will be to Chandigarh the distance will be 310 kilometers in 10 hours. Chandigarh is the state capital of Haryana and Punjab as well as a union territory. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-20

The option of exploring Chandigarh is there as you will visit the rose and the Famous Rock garden designed entirely out of scrap products, this garden was designed by Nek Chand. The city of Chandigarh is a marvel of modern planning and Architecture and was designed by le Corbusier. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-21

You will drive back to Delhi. The total drive is of 250 kilometers over the Grand trunk road which stretches from Amritsar to Calcutta. After reaching Delhi you will have a lot of time to explore this potpourri of a place. Overnight stay will be in hotel.

Day-22

The time to take your flight back home is here.

The tour is all inclusive.

We will provide porters and packed lunch.

The permits will be taken by us.

Important: get good walking shoes.

If you don’t have sleeping bags these will also be provided.
