Spituk to Markha

This trek will take you to the Markha valley with a spectacular view of the Korakoram snow-covered peaks; this is a very popular trek in Ladakh.

This trek is of 13 days but can be customized to your requirements.

Day-1

Arrival in Delhi. Stay in hotel.

Day-2

Arrival in Leh. You will have time to check out the busy bazaar. Stay in hotel.

Day-3

Today you will complete your acclimatization and shop for special items for folks back home. Stay in hotel.

Day-4

Today we will travel by jeeps to Marteslang from where we will start our trek to Chokod (4055 meters) this is a 5 hour trek which will take us from the Indus valley along side the river over rough rocky terrain. Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-5

Today we will trek to Latza-Kongmaru (4800 meters) in 6 hours. We will be passing through steep gorges and narrow passes as you will start your ascent towards Kongmaru-la (pass). Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-6

On day 6 you will travel to the Kongmaru-la (pass) (5030 meters) and Nimaling (4700 meters) with a trekking time of 6 hours. This stretch of the trek will take you along a ridge trail with fabulous views of the Ladakh range and Kang-Yatze (6400 meters) on your south side while the eastern front has a breathtaking view of china and the Korakoram range. The trek will take you towards Nimaling Pastures; these are the retreat of the Markha and the Hankar shepherds. Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-7

Today we will go from Nimaling pastures to Hankar (4000 meters) with a trekking time of 5 hours.
We will be trekking through meadows and cross the Nimaling River, where we will take some time of to bask in the sunlight with the river flowing just for you. The trek will now be alongside the Markha River. Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-8

Today will be the tough part of the trek as we will trek for 8 hours from Hankar to Markha (3850 meters) and onwards to Chalok (3450 meters). The trek will take you along side ruins and monasteries to the largest fort in this area situated alongside a monastery on top of a hill. After visiting the Gompa (the oldest in Ladakh) we will pass through well kept fields and old abandoned monasteries and some ingenious wolf traps, as the winter sets in wolfs come down and create havoc in the villages. Accommodation will be in tents.
This part of the trek can also be divided in to two days.

Day-9

Today we will trek to Shingo (4150 meters) in 6 hours.
This will be the last day with the river Markha as we will cross it a lot of times over bridges and rope pulleys. We will trek out of the valley towards Shingo and on the way we will come across wild rose and willow forests. Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-10

Today we will trek from Shingo to Ganda La (pass) (4920 meters) and Rumbak (3750 meters) in 7 hours.
The Zanskar range is in the back ground as you will trek through prayer flags fluttering in the background, you will trek alongside the Jingchan River and get amazing views of the Stok-Kangri (6121 meters) and Stok. Accommodation will be in tents.

Day-11

The trek today will be towards Namlung-La (4570 meters) and Stok (3700 meters) in 6 hours. The trek will mainly be a descent as you will experience the Indus Valley in all its glory. The main things to do in Stok are the famous museums and the palace. Accommodation will be in tents\hotel.

Day-12

Take the jeep to Leh and catch the flight to Delhi or stay back in Leh for some further sightseeing. Accommodation will be in hotel.

Day-13

Take flight out of Leh to Delhi and catch the connecting flight to your destination or stay in Delhi for some sight seeing. Accommodation will be in hotel.

The tour is all inclusive.

We will provide porters and packed lunch.

The permits will be taken by us.

Important: get good walking shoes.

If you don’t have sleeping bags these will also be provided.
